Life with Lucas {week 31}

Well, I'm late on this post again this week. This time of year is just crazy!

We have had another fun week!
Last Thursday, April was sweet enough to organize a special time with Santa at Black Lion! Ella was in preschool, but I figured Lucas might enjoy pretending to be an only child and see Santa without big sister!

He was a little skeptical, but no tears, so I'd call that a win!

He especially like pulling on Santa's beard.

Afterwards, I took a few photos of Lucas around Black Lion's cute little set-up.

Then it was time to head to Ella's preschool for her class Christmas party!

Her class performed 3 songs for us: Are You Sleeping, Jingle Bells and We Wish You a Merry Christmas. It was so cute!

All of the preschoolers also got to decorate cookies, which I thought was very brave of the teachers!

Friday, we met up with some friends to spread holiday cheer at the VA. We did this last year, and had to go over an hour away Salisbury. Now, there is a {very nice} VA center here in Charlotte! Ella wasn't into talking to the veterans much; she really just wanted to eat cookies and play "Ring Around the Rosie" with Camille.

We continued our "good deeds" on Saturday by taking some toys up to the hospital! We have been so spoiled by the people at Lucas's hematology clinic, and it was the least we could do to give back a little bit to them! I thought I would get some toys that my kids would like themselves, so I ordered this Paw Patrol toy and this baby toy. Well, Ella saw Everest and freaked out. I had to explain 308 times that it was for the sick kids, and they needed presents, just like she and Lucas had gotten stuff this summer when he was sick. Thankfully, by the time we got up to the hospital and she saw all of the other toys, she kind of "got it," and happily gave Everest away for the sick kids.

They also had fun crafts for Ella to do!

Santa was there with Mrs. Clause!

After the hospital, we went to Black Lion again, this time so Ella could see Santa. First, she had to check out the bears...

....and the gingerbread man...

...and all of the other things they has set up while we waited in a really long line (because this time, we were there to see Santa with the masses instead of April's party)!

When we got up to see Santa, Ella...actually...SMILED!!??! I could hardly believe it!

As if all of that wasn't enough excitement for one day, after nap, Ella and I went to Penelope's birthday party!

It was a perfect princess party, and Ella waited sooooo patiently for that yummy cake!

She finally got a piece, and man was it delicious!

Oh and we decided to cram one more thing into our Saturday...we went to the live nativity at Ella's preschool! Ella especially liked meeting all of the animals at the end!

Since we had such an exciting Saturday, we kept it pretty low key on Sunday. Trav and I had his work Christmas party that night though! Some of you saw my snaps/Instagram story...it was pretty epic!!!

Tuesday, we made our annual trip uptown to see the bears! It was Lucas's first time on the light rail! He was not sure...

Once uptown, we first stopped in the Ritz to see their winter wonderland and write a letter to Santa!

One of the pastry chefs was fixing the cookie trees while we were there, and let Ella help her! Ella was so excited!

Also: it is so impossible to get a good picture of 2 kids. SO IMPOSSIBLE. I've been doing #lucasandellas12daysofchristmas on Instagram {@fergmindy if you want to follow along!} and it is basically a half an hour project to get them both sitting and looking at the camera (forget trying to get them to smile)!

See?! They look like they are being tortured!! Really, it was more like, "Mommy, you take a pic-sha of me by dis house? By dis tree?" And then she doesn't smile...ugh!

So after the Ritz, we walked over to Founder's Hall to see the bears! We have been coming now for three years and there is even a bear named Ella! No Lucas bear though...maybe that's why he looks less than enthused.

And more poor children being tortured to take pictures. ;)

Wednesday, we went to Allie's for her annual cookie party! Check out all those cute kids in Christmas jammies!!

Lucas liked testing out a new jumperoo!

And Ella enjoyed decorating cookies!

Wednesday night, Penelope came over and we exchanged gifts with her and Kathryn!

Kathryn got Ella the Roller Skating Minnie she had been dying for (and she is now obsessed!) and Lucas got a BeatBo!

Whew, what a week!!!

I'll be back next week to tell you all about Lulu's first Christmas! I know you are excited!
Have a very Merry Christmas!!
