Bennett's Nursery

I’m finally getting around to sharing a few pics of Bennett’s nursery!
Since we didn’t know if Bennett was a boy or girl, I painted the room back in May and then left lots of the accents until we knew gender. I was going to add lots of coral and mint if it was a girl, but I wasn’t really sure what I was going to do if it was a boy! I ended up just using lots of gold accents and came up with kind of an “adventure” theme. Six weeks after his birth, it’s finally done! Here is the finished product!
Also disclaimer: Bennett’s room gets the absolute WORST natural light possible, so some of these pics are little grainy. Professional photographer I am not. Sorry!

This is the bear Ella and Lucas made for Bennett in July! :) It was his present from them; they even brought it to give him in the hospital!

Since we still use Lucas's glider, I wanted to get another one for Bennett's room! I happened to find this one on a local Facebook group...and the mom selling it even lived in my neighborhood!

I decided to use the good ol IKEA Hemnes dresser, but spray painted the drawer pulls gold. I love this dresser and might get another one for Lucas's room, too!

I made this fabric garland with the help of directions from here and here. It was super easy!

And then we come to...the closet. For someone who's gender was not even known until 6 weeks ago, Bennett sure has acquired a lot of clothes since then!

Anniversary and Father's Day Weekend

We had a very busy weekend!!
First up was Ella's best friend's flamingo birthday party!

It was at our all-time favorite "jumpy place," so Ella and her friends were able to run around and get all tired out before enjoying some yummy cake!

Sweetest friends! It's so much fun to turn 4!

After the party, Ella and I made the long trek up to Ikea. (It's only like half an hour, but feels SO far away!) I tried to assemble a dresser for the baby's room all by myself....and I messed up the screws. I got Trav to take over the dresser project (which I should have just asked him to do it in the first place, whatevs!) and he needed more screws since I had basically stripped a bunch. Whoops.

And you can't go to Ikea without getting a cinnamon roll!

That afternoon, Trav and I got ready for our anniversary dinner while our kids looked at our wedding pictures!

Trav also got me these pretty flowers and a card to celebrate 6 years being married!

As usual, we had dinner at Bentley's on 27, which is where we had our wedding reception! We go here every year and it never disappoints!

This was the view from our table!

This was only the second time I've been pregnant on our anniversary (last time was when I was like 6 or 7 weeks pregnant with Ella!), and I forgot how depressing it is to not be able to order a steak (I don't want a well-done steak!) or a glass of wine! But my stuffed shrimp was equally delicious!

They also brought us a complementary dessert to say Congrats on 6 Years/New Baby/Happy Early Father's Day! So many things to celebrate! :)

On Sunday, we had a very low-key Father's Day. Ella and Lucas got Trav a Cookie Monster card (that Lucas is obsessed with!) and an updated version of The Daddy Book. I made one when Ella was about 16 months old, and Ella, Lucas and Trav still read it together almost every night before bed. So, I thought Lucas should have his own version. You can see how I made the original here!

I also updated the kids' pictures holding the D-A-D letters. Can't believe next year we will have 3 little people to hold these letters!

Trav was sweet enough to finish up this dresser on Father's Day! Now Baby #3 has somewhere to put all of his/her clothes!

When your mom is craving popsicles, you get one (or 2) too!

Ella was also in need of a new bin to put all of her stuffed animals, as they were about to take over her bed. No, really, she almost had no where to sleep! So we headed up to Home Goods, and got a huge pink storage bin and danced in front of the mirrors. :)

We came home to one too-cool-for-school dude!! I was shocked he wanted to wear his sunglasses...and he actually left them on his head!

Trav grilled us some Italian sausages with peppers and onions for dinner. It was SO good. Even Ella ate the sausage!!!

We ended our Father's Day by reading the newest version of the Daddy Book! Lucas was too into the story to look up for a picture!

And that's a wrap on our 6th anniversary and Father's Day 2018!

Weekend Recap!

Another Monday, another weekend recap!

Friday morning we got our new-to-us swing set installed and the kids wasted NO time in going to play on it!

It definitely needs a good power washing and some staining, but the kids love it just as it is now!

Saturday morning, we met up with our friends at Touch a Truck! There were all sorts of police cars, fire trucks, ambulances, semi-trucks and construction vehicles for the kids to check out...both Ella and Lucas were definitely in heaven!

Saturday night, I was really living my best life (ha!) and decided to clean out our guest room closet! This will be the baby's room, so probably not the best idea to have everyone else's old clothes in there, right?!

This was before...

...and after!

There are still a few things in there I need to find homes for, but at least now there's a spot for Baby 3's stuff!

Where did I put all of the clothes?! In the attic of course!

I plan on ordering these to go over the garment racks so the clothes stay somewhat unharmed.

Sunday afternoon, Ella had a birthday party! I had no idea the Soccer Shots program did birthday parties...but they do, and it was probably the most genius thing ever. They had 2 coaches who worked with the kids for almost an hour! Ella had the best time playing soccer, and I'm already looking into this as an idea for Lucas's 3rd birthday (yes, in May 2019!).

After the party, it was time for more playing on our swing set!

Trav had been working in the yard all day, and both kids wanted to help him out!

Last but not least, I finished the navy accent wall in the nursery! I am obsessed with it. I kind of want to paint at least one wall in every room navy now.

Don't worry, the bed is leaving very soon, and later this week, I will be painting the remaining 3 walls gray!

Hope you had a fun (and productive?) weekend too!
