2013 {Year in Review}

I'm not going to lie....I was not the most excited for 2013. 2012 was AWESOME...we bought a house, got married, and I ran a marathon! No way could 2013 live up to all of that. Plus, it's an odd (and unlucky!) number....and I hate odd numbers.

But what do you know?! 2013 wasn't all that bad! Here are some highlights:

January
We bought a treadmill and I said "goodbye" to the over-crowded gym!

February
We celebrated our first married Valentine's Day with a nice steak dinner at home.

We also got new couches and I made 294729 trips to HomeGoods to find acceptable pillows
(This reminds me...we had the room painted in June and I STILL haven't posted pics of the completed project! Whoops!)

March
We pulled up dead rosebushes and planted these little guys in their place. AKA, the first and last time I will do yardwork.

April
Kathryn and I ran the Cooper River Bridge Run in Charleston...

and another 10K in Charlotte a week later (and I got 2nd place & $150!)!

That same day, Natalie got engaged!!!

May
I celebrated Mother's Day with my mom...

Painted our bedroom (never again painting a room myself!)...

Oh, and on May 30, our lives changed forever!

June

Celebrated our own first year anniversary...
{note the lack of wine glasses...sad day!}

And took off for Italy!

July
We came home from Italy and told everyone we were having a baby!

August
I started a new school year at a new school and a new grade level!

September
 We had our Gender Reveal Party and found out we were having a baby GIRL!

October
We attended a fancy schmancy event for Trav's work...

and festively celebrated Halloween without pumpkin beer, but with our little pumpkin!

November
Baby Ferg got showered with love...

We attended the last few UNC football games...

and hosted Thanksgiving for both of our families!
{also the start of me trying to figure out my new fancy camera!}

December
We attended Christmas parties...

Spoiled our unborn child even more...

and celebrated Christmas with both of our families!

So, not too bad for a year that was supposed to suck, right?!

I am going to go out on a limb here and say that I have a feeling 2014 will be even better though!

Happy New Year!

Bumpdate {35 weeks}

Size of baby: A coconut
Weight gain: At the doctor on Thursday, I weighed in at 150 pounds, so 30 pounds gained…not as bad as I thought, even with all the Christmas cookies I've been eating!
Maternity clothes: Starting to get sick of them…I have to do laundry every week because I wear the same couple of outfits over and over!
Gender: A GIRL!
Movement: She’s slowed down a little bit, but still enjoys kicking my ribs pretty hard, especially after dinner. On Christmas Eve, she kicked so hard that Travis, sitting next to me on the couch, could feel her!
Cravings: Same stuff…pasta, tomatoes, Chipotle, chocolate.
Symptoms: Thankfully, the slight swelling I had last week has gone down. However, I have been feeling realllllly crampy this past week. I asked my doctor what was up with that and she said it might pre-term labor contractions! She wanted to make sure I wasn’t going into labor anytime soon, so I got “checked” (SO painful!) and I am not dilated or anything. Which is good….baby needs to stay in there just a little bit longer! My sciatic nerve pain has also been acting up this week, especially at night—I can barely walk when I get up at night to pee!
Workouts: I walked 12 miles again, but had to slow down from 4.0 to 3.6 pace…still doing the incline though!
Sleep: I will be super tired at like 8:00, and then wide awake when I actually try to go to bed around 11:00. While we were at Travis’ and then my parents’ houses, I slept terribly because those queen size beds were a little too small for both of us and my pregnancy pillow! In my own king size bed, I am sleeping great still once I fall asleep!
What I miss: Nothing really this week! Just trying to soak up these last few weeks of pregnancy :)
Best moment this week: Celebrating Christmas with our families and getting even closer to our baby’s arrival!
Looking forward to: The rug and glider for the nursery coming in soon (long story….another post for another time)! And finishing up preparing for this little girl—we are almost ready!

Christmas 2013

I hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas! We definitely did...we are so lucky we got spend time with both of our families (even if it did involved 8 hours of driving in 3 days)!

On Christmas Eve Eve (which would be December 23 in case you didn't know), we left for Chapel Hill. We celebrated Christmas with Travis' family on Christmas Eve...

We got his mom a Kitchen Aid mixer-she loved it!

{Opening presents!}

{Caitlin's dog Danny watching us open presents!}

{I cannot get this boy to cooperate and take a good picture!}

After opening presents, we went to Travis' grandma's house to see his dad's whole side of the family. We had to leave a little early though, because we had to drive to Virginia to my parents' house!

We woke up Christmas morning and did stockings first.

Baby Ferg even got a stocking...with some board books inside!

Then we moved to the living room to do presents...

My mom got 2 pots, and I love this pic because she looks like she is about to whack my dad with one of them!

Of course Baby Ferg cleaned up pretty well...

{She also got a jumperoo from Grandma and Grandpa Ferguson, some cute outfits, baby books...oh and in that Kate Spade box is the cutest diaper bag ever!}

I also got this ornament for mine and Travis' parents (and a brag book for baby pics too)...

Having a baby is very convenient for gift-giving (just like last year with all of the wedding stuff)! What will I give everyone next year?!?

Then my mom got out all of my baby clothes from the attic for me to look through! Sadly, most things were stained, out of style or just plain ugly to begin with, but I did walk away with a few more outfits for our baby girl!

We also snacked all afternoon and ate some of my mom's famous chocolate bears...

My mom also made turkey (and spaghetti for me and Baby Ferg) but we were so full from snacking all day that we could hardly eat anything! This happened last year (and every year before that), too. I think next year, we should just forgo the formal meal and snack all day instead!

Last but not least, we had a mini photo shoot by the Christmas tree before we left for home!

I just wish I could edit out that big plant in the middle...hahah, I'm still learning how to work this fancy camera!

I was also going to share our Christmas decorations, but then I realized that they were pretty much the same as last year's! Baby Ferg did get that pink Christmas tree in her room this year, though!!

Can't wait to be back soon to recap 2013!!

Christmas Parties

I feel like I'm so behind on blogging (and life in general)!
Here's what I've been up to the last few weeks...

A few weekends ago, I went to an ugly sweater party. Let me tell you, finding an ugly sweater at 8 months pregnant was not the easiest thing, but luckily, Walmart came through last minute.

I look like a freaking house
{Please note Mallery, 2 weeks before her due date here, did not wear an ugly sweater. I should have done the same! But I didn't know that was an option...}

The very next night, we had Travis' work Christmas party. It was once again held at the Urban Garden at the Ritz uptown. {You can read about last year's party here.}

This year was not quite as fun because A. it was on a Sunday night, B. I could not drink, C. Nick Cannon was not the DJ (and instead they had this extremely loud band playing....I couldn't even hear anyone I was talking to! OMG I sound like an old lady) and D. some of Trav's work friends have moved away/don't work for the company anymore, so we didn't have a whole lot of people to hang out with! It was still fun though, and fancy as always!

{No one is close to the stage because the band was SO freaking loud! You could probably hear them in South Carolina...}

My dress is the one I was thinking about wearing to the black-tie gala we went to in October, but decided to hold off and wear it to this Christmas party instead. It was $35 on Amazon!

And of course, we had a Christmas party at school....or, excuse me, a winter celebration. I put together those little "for your mistletoes" packages that have been floating around Pinterest for the teachers on my team...

{inside is a little Aveda Foot Relief and some nail polish!}

And then got my kids bags of stuff that they are always asking me for (post-it's for stopping and jotting while reading, Kleenex, eraser tops, stickers and then a whole bunch of candy). They loved it.

I'll be back super soon to share some Christmas decorations around our house and Christmas with our families! Better late than never, right?!

Bumpdate {34 weeks}

Happy Sunday! Sundays are SO much better when you don't have to go to work the next day, aren't they?! (And 10 times better when you don't have to work for the next 2 weeks! Woo hoo!!!!)

Looking forward to getting caught up on some much needed updates, but for now...here's how week 34 of pregnancy is treating me!

Size of baby: A butternut squash
Weight gain: I have officially crossed the 150 pound mark, up to 151-ish… 31 pounds gained total. More weight gain = cuter baby, right?!?
Maternity clothes: Yes and I am about to start stealing my husband’s t-shirts very soon.
Gender: A GIRL!
Movement: Someone really enjoys punching (or kicking?) me in the ribs! Her movements are definitely getting more forceful as she gets bigger and heavier, but I still love feeling all movements—even the painful ones!
Cravings: Still anything with tomatoes. Or chocolate. But not tomatoes and chocolate together…gross.
Symptoms: This would be the week that I blew UP. I’m not sure if it’s due to the warmer weather we’ve been having or what, but my rings are getting reaaaally tight, I have one pair of Tory Burch’s that officially do not fit my feet, and I swear I saw some cankle action going on one night before bed! I really hope I can get a few more weeks with wearing my rings. Cool off, weather! I’d rather freeze than swell! {Side note: we currently have our air-conditioning on! In December! Can you believe it?!}
Workouts: Walked 12 miles on an incline this week. Didn’t have a lot of time to work out more!
Sleep: Hit or miss. I still cannot fall asleep when I want to, but once I am asleep, it’s pretty amazing.
What I miss: Our school was sweet enough to bring us Jason’s Deli this week…and I REALLLLLLYYY wanted a turkey sandwich.
Best moment this week: We had our hospital tour last Sunday, which was….interesting. Definitely had some strange people touring along with us (anyone deliver at Presbyterian and had a similar experience?!). But I am super glad we went, because going to new places (where I don’t know where to park, where to check in, who to speak to, etc.) gives me major anxiety. Now, I feel better prepared for when I go into labor! And it definitely made everything wayyy more real for me!
Looking forward to: Celebrating Christmas with Travis’ and my families! It’s our last Christmas with just the two of us! Crazy!!
