Nursery Help!

Even before we found out if Baby Ferg was a boy or girl, I knew I wanted to do the nursery in navy. I love the preppiness (is that a word?!) of the color! Now that I know we are having a girl, I am going to add in as much pink as possible, with a little Carolina blue (duh) and maybe even a smidge of gray.

So I need your help....

First, like I mentioned in the bumpdate, Angela (who knows my obsession with navy and pink...I mean, HELLO, they were my wedding colors!) found this duvet cover at the PBKids outlet in Ohio and got it for me!

I am planning on using it as a "blanket" to drape over the glider (which will be white/ivory). I also plan on getting the matching crib sheets.

Unfortunately, they are sold out of the bumper, but I read that you aren't really supposed to have bumpers anyway because they can cause SIDS.

The rest of the crib sheets I plan on getting are navy (navy chevron, navy dots, etc.). The furniture will all be white.

First, I need help on a wall color...

gray?

pale pink?

navy accent wall?

And second, do I do navy curtains and rug...

or pink curtains and rug? And should I do light pink or bright pink?

And should I keep the rug and curtains simple, or do a design like chevron or quatrefoil???

I can't seem to find anything I really like on Pinterest, so I am trying to piece this all together in my mind. All I know is that I LOVE that Mallory bedding from Pottery Barn Kids, and I plan on getting as much stuff to match it as possible!

Oh and also, I am trying to tie in this picture that Trav's parents gave to us for our nursery!

 I love it so much, I really want to use it! Will it work with the navy and pink?!?!

I appreciate any input/guidance from those of you who are better interior decorators than me!

Bumpdate {22 weeks}

How the heck am I already at 22 weeks?! This is flying by!

{Ugh. The pictures keep getting worse and worse.}

Size of baby: a papaya. How tropical!
Weight gain: I think I’m up another pound…bringing my total to about 15 pounds so far. My scale at home is so sketchy though.
Maternity clothes: I feel like the bump popped this week! So many people at school were telling me how I finally look pregnant (and I even heard a 3rd grader in the hallway ask their teacher “Is she pregnant?!”). I am definitely rocking any and all maternity clothes I currently own. Definitely need to go get more maternity work pants! Some regular shirts still fit; but most regular dresses make me look like a hoochie.
Gender: A GIRL! So happy to finally know!
Movement: Yes! The kicks are starting to get stronger and I can’t wait till Travis can feel them. Little girl is especially active in the mornings when I am drinking my (*decaf) coffee and checking my kids’ homework!
Cravings: This is getting boring…I’d like to crave something else besides pasta, mac & cheese, pickles and ice cream!
Symptoms: The heartburn has definitely amped up this week…my new favorite dessert is Tums. This child will probably come out with a huge fro.
Workouts: 16 miles at my super slow 10:00 min/mile pace. I think I may be coming up on the last of my running days….my heartrate is getting verrrry close to 160 and at times I feel a little winded and even slightly dizzy. I may have to switch to walking soon!
Sleep: I CANNOT go to bed before 11 pm! Luckily, I've been doing ok living on 6-7 hours a sleep per night. Still getting up to pee once or twice.
What I miss: My regular clothes. Not feeling fat. A big glass of wine.
Best moment this week: Shopping for this little lady and planning her nursery! The nursery will get its own post at some point, but I’m so excited about this duvet cover (the one with big pink flowers and navy leaves, not the white one on the very top) that Angela found at the Pottery Barn Kids outlet! Even though it’s a duvet, I’m going to use it as a blanket to drape over the rocker and then use it on her big girl bed in a few years! Now I just need to figure out everything else to match it!
Looking forward to: I can’t wait to continue planning her nursery (sorry Pinterest friends, I've been pinning nothing but!)!! I’m also looking forward to Babies R Us getting their sh*t together and getting the crib we want back in stock so we can order it! Feel free to stalk the website like I have been!

I'm hoping to be back soon to share with you our fall decorations, baby clothes I've bought and some nursery ideas! Have a great week! :)

Bumpdate {21 weeks and gender reveal!}

Here's the news you all have been waiting for (or at least, I have)...
Baby Ferg is a GIRL!!!!

I know, I can't believe it either!!

I was soooo convinced  it was a boy (thanks to the stupid ring test that was not accurate!)...but remember way back when, I did originally think it was a girl?! Travis also was positive it was a girl this whole time, so I'm glad at least one of us was right! I'm still adjusting to the fact that we are having a girl (I know I've said this 20842 times, but I was just SO sure it was a boy! Sorry baby girl!), but I am SOOOO excited to have a little shopping buddy!!!

{It's true...girls do steal the mom's beauty...at least I have an excuse for looking so terrible in most of these pictures!}

Size of baby: a pomegranate
Weight gain: My scale at home is still reading around 133, even though I weighed 134 at the doctor last week. So, I’ll say I’m still at 14ish pounds gained.
Maternity clothes: Yes…love those maternity jeans! The bump is getting harder and harder to hide, so I finally broke down on Wednesday and told my students. We played Hangman on the SmartBoard to figure out my secret, and of course they all started screaming when they knew what it said.

They all were 100% sure I was having a girl, too!
Gender: IT’S A GIRL!!!!!!! WHAATTTTTTT...I can’t believe it! I still keep checking the ultrasound picture to make sure! But there's definitely no boy part on there (and no I'm not posting the ultrasound pic of my little lady's crotch on the internet)!
Movement: More and more little kicks from this sweet girl. I felt her kicking at school this week…before, the only times I would feel anything was lying in bed.
Cravings: Same old….pasta, mac and cheese, ice cream, pickles, fruit snacks
Symptoms: A little heartburn, some stomach (gas) pains, but nothing too bad. Honestly, I was so busy this week with school and the gender reveal party, I had no time to feel any symptoms!
Workouts: I ran 16 miles this week, which was a small miracle because my allergies were acting up Monday-Wednesday and I could barely breathe! Running did help them somewhat, though.
Sleep: Still some tossing and turning, and getting up multiple times to pee. I also have lost the ability to sleep in on weekends! Ugh!
What I miss: I really, really, really needed some major allergy meds this week! Thankfully, my doctor said I could take Claritin, but I would have taken more than 1 per day had I not been prego.
Best moment this week: I think you already know….finding out this peanut is a little GIRL!!!! Our party was amazing and I can’t wait to get our pics back from our photographers.
Looking forward to: I’m so excited to go shopping for this little princess!!

Bumpdate {20 weeks}

I can't believe I am posting this on time this week! I am so on top of my game, I can't even stand it!
We are halfway to a baby today!!!

Size of baby: a banana!
Weight gain: Ok, so my official weight at the doctor’s yesterday was 134. Which means I have gained 14 pounds! I had no idea it would be so much, but my doctor was super sweet and reassured me that she wanted me to gain as much weight as possible. She told me she gained 50+ pounds with both her pregnancies (she’s pretty tiny, like me) and she’s convinced that babies turn out cuter when the mom gains more weight! I like her thinking, so I’m not going to stress out about my weight too much!
Maternity clothes: Yep! Some non-maternity dresses and shirts still fit, but my closet’s getting more limited by the day!
Gender: Ahhhhh! This is the last time I will write that I don’t know!!! I still think BOY…final answer.
Movement: Yes! The flutters have been a little bit stronger this week, but no serious jabs yet!
Cravings: Pasta, fruit, pickles and ice cream. Also, I’m pretty sure that I am single-handedly keeping the fruit snacks industry alive…I eat like 12 packs a day, haha.
Symptoms: Round ligament pain, stretch marks (my doctor said they may be from my running…who knew running would cause stretch marks?!), headaches. Also my heartburn seems to have gotten a little more intense this week, as have my, um, gas pains in my stomach/ribs.
Workouts: I ran 20 miles this week! Every day after school! Yay! My doctor said I can keep running as long as I feel good and keep my heartrate under 160. Although, I may have to start wearing a belly band for support.
Sleep: Ok…some nights I toss and turn a lot. I have been trying really hard to sleep on my side, but it’s so not comfortable for me!
What I miss: Caffeine still, in a major way. Also, I really, really REALLY wanted a big sub sandwich again this week.
Best moment this week: Seeing our little peanut yesterday at our hour long ultrasound!! He/she looked super cute and BIG! Crazy how fast they grow in there! We got to see all of its 10 fingers and toes, and all of the other measurements taken were right on track. Baby is so healthy and we are so thankful!

We closed our eyes while the ultrasound tech looked for our baby’s “gender parts,” although Baby Ferg was being a little difficult—he/she had his/her legs crossed and would NOT uncross them! The tech had to basically jab my stomach with the sonogram thingy and then I had to roll onto BOTH sides. Clearly, this is Trav’s child….so difficult! But she eventually got the gender!  After the appointment, I delivered the sealed envelope to my sister in law, Caitlin, who will be making our cake for the party! No one knows except her and her roommate!!
Looking forward to: Do I even have to say it??? The GENDER REVEAL, duh!

My Football-Infested Weekend

Prepare yourselves, ladies (and gentlemen), because this is the most football-filled post ever. It's a little ridiculous....

Friday night we drove up to Chapel Hill (note: car rides over 30 minutes are already not fun, unless you consider stopping 20487592 times to pee fun), for the football game on Saturday!!!

Before the game, we stopped in a store on Franklin Street to buy our little peanut some UNC attire! We plan on returning the one we won't need...but OMG how cute are both of these little outfits?!

Then it was time for the game! Thankfully, our seats were in the shade, but it was still hot! I did feel some little flutters in my belly...I think Baby likes football!!!

If that wasn't enough, when I was at a party watching the Michigan vs Notre Dame game (yayyyyy, go BLUE!), Travis texted me saying we got free tickets to the Panthers game Sunday!

So, more football...yay.

Our friends, Grady and Brittiany were in town and invited us to this fancy tailgate! They had cornhole games with scoreboards, and on the inside of the building was a huge TV and leather couches! If only it was air-conditioned....

Our seats were awesome, too! We were in the third row!

It was SOOOOO freaking hot!!! I've never sweated so much in my life. I can't imagine being prego during the summer (like, 6+ months prego)...my hands and feet were starting to swell, my rings wouldn't come off and it was a little painful! Thankfully, all of the swelling went down once I got home and cooled off.

So. I've had enough football for a while I'm pretty sure....

Oh but wait. What am I doing now? Watching Monday Night Football. If Alfred Morris scores more than 2 points, I'll win both of my fantasy matchups this week!
Did I really just type that?!?!?!?
Who am I?!?!

Bumpdate {19 weeks}

What is this?!!?! I'm blogging about my 19th week....only a day late instead of 4?!??! I know, I can't believe it either.

{September 6}

Size of baby: a mango…or in Travis language, a softball. Or in my language, a Chipotle burrito.
Weight gain: I think I gained another pound this week. I am pretty sure I weigh between 130-132 (10-12 pounds gained total). My scale is sketchy.
Maternity clothes: Oh yes…they are starting to be a regular occurrence in my wardrobe! I find more and more of my regular clothes don’t look right anymore (too short/too tight), and {dare I say it?!}, I’m not sure how much more my beloved belly band is going to last! My hips are getting verrrrryyy wide…
Gender: I’m still leaning towards boy! Only 2 more weeks till we know for sure!
Movement: Yep! Still some little flutters here and there. Can’t wait till it’s more consistent!
Cravings: Same….pasta, tomatoes, berries, ice cream, pickles, mac & cheese. I also made this bomb pasta salad for lunch this week that was amazing (I’ll share the recipe soon)! New craving this week: buffalo chicken anything. I also got my obsession with coffee (decaf!) back this week!
Symptoms: Round ligament pain, cellulite, some headaches, feeling tired after school. But other than, I’ve been feeling pretty good!
Workouts: 16 miles again this week! I don’t know how much longer I will be able to run…the bump looks small, but it does kinda get in the way on the treadmill. Also? I have to get off literally every 6 minutes to pee. It’s kind of ridiculous!
Sleep: Pretty great, except getting up 1-2 times to pee.
What I miss: Caffeine! I know I can have a little bit, but I need TONS to deal with some of these 4th graders!
Best moment this week: One of my best friends, Dana had her baby!!!!! Gavin was born last night, and he is the most precious baby I've ever seen. Makes me want one...now! I can’t wait for him and Baby Ferg to meet and become BFFs or BF/GF! It’s been fun being prego with you, Dana!! Thanks for listening to and answering all of my stupid questions!!!
Looking forward to: Going to the doctor on Thursday! My ultrasound is supposed to last an HOUR?!?!?! I have no idea why so long, but I can’t wait to see this little nugget waving, kicking and moving all around in there!

Bumpdate {18 weeks}

Happy Labor Day!!

I wish I could say I had a nice, relaxing weekend, but I actually ended up spending about 947284 hours of it working on stuff for school. Ah, the beginning of the school year. Switching grade levels is so much fun

Along with that, sorry that these baby bump posts are the only things I have time to write these days....hopefully in a few weeks, my life will slow down/I will get caught up with work and I can write about some other stuff!

But for now, here ya go...

{August 30}

Size of baby: a sweet potato
Weight gain: Thanks to the first week of school and being too busy to eat, my weight has pretty much stayed where it was last week. Thank GOD. If anything, I've gained less than a pound more.
Maternity clothes: Since my kids don’t know about Baby Ferg yet, I’m trying to wear my baggier clothes to school. Some of my shirts are already getting a little short and tight and I don’t feel comfortable wearing them to work. My wardrobe is getting smaller and more limited by the day.
Gender: I’m definitely leaning toward boy now and here’s why: the ring test. You hold your engagement ring over your belly on a string and if it swings back and forth it’s a boy; if it goes around in circles, it’s a girl. My friend swears by this method and it’s been accurate for 4 of her close friends. She tried it on me at a party last weekend and it went back and forth. We also tried it on a girl who already knew she was having a girl and it went around in circles! I made Dana try it too; hers went back and forth and she is about to have a boy any second now. Who knows how accurate this really is, but so far, I’m sold.
Movement: Yes!! Starting to feel more of these little flutters/gas bubbles…and more frequently too!
Cravings: I feel so silly buying pickles and ice cream every week at the grocery store…but they are so good! Still can’t get enough of pasta, raspberries, strawberries and granny smith apples.
Symptoms: Round ligament pain, fatigue (although that may just be from going back to school!), cellulite…the acne is also trying to make a comeback. Yay. Also trying to make a comeback? That darn morning sickness! But as soon as I eat something, I'm ok.
Workouts: I did 16 miles somehow this week, and I have no idea how I even did that much! I've been so tired, and when I get home from school, my feet hurt SOOOO bad! I wish I could somehow run sitting down. Ha!
Sleep: Pretty much amazing. I've been so exhausted, I've been falling asleep in .2 seconds and only waking up once or twice for the bano.
What I miss: I really needed some maj caffeine this week…wayyyy more than my daily 200 mg allowance! Also with football starting this week, I would really like a cold beverage….other than water.
Best moment this week: Last weekend, I was buying some chapter books at a used book store. I got out my teacher ID to get a discount, and the lady behind me in line said, “Let me get those for you.” I tried to refuse, but she insisted and bought me all of these books for my classroom! I started crying in the store because I was so touched by her generosity (and also I am slightly hormonal)!
Looking forward to: I know I say this pretty much every week but finding out the gender…only 3 more weeks!!! I can’t wait to buy clothes for this little peanut!!
