A Day in the Life {Part III}

It has been quite a while since I did one of these, so I figured I was long overdue for one. I saw a bunch of people posting a "day in the life" updates on Instagram a week or so ago, but of course, I missed the boat on that one.
Anyway, I decided to document our day last Thursday!
Get comfortable for another riveting blog post! ;)

7:22 AM
Ella is up! She gets her milk in our bed while we have family snuggle time.

8:14 AM
Breakfast. Usually Ella has a waffle and a banana, because it's easy. Trav also leaves us for work, and Ella waves bye to him from her high chair!

8:44 AM
Time for Ella to get dressed. I always lay out her clothes to make sure her shirt/pants/bow match before I actually put everything on her. She is super squirmy, so she never lets me change her if I don't like how something looks.

8:54 AM
Time to run!
I usually run outside with Ella in the BOB but since it was rainy this morning, treadmill it is!

Luckily, Ella has tons of toys in the same room to keep her busy!

9:47 AM
Run is done! Please note the gigantic mess...we'll clean it up later. Maybe.

Now it's time for me to shower, so Ella gets to watch Daniel Tiger!

10:45
We head to Sky Zone for toddler hour! We hadn't been in a quite a while due to our music class being at the same time, so Ella was super excited to be back today!

11:22 AM
All done with the "jumpy place." Look at that sweaty girl!!! Wore her out!

Time to head to a magical place...

This girl loves Target!!!!

12:31 PM
Finally home from Target and time to unload all of our purchases.

And it's also lunchtime for Ella! Today she had a peanut butter sandwich, orange slices, cheese and an applesauce pouch.

1:18 PM
Ella is finally down for her nap, so I can eat my lunch (some leftover Chipotle!) and catch up on reading some blogs!

2:14 PM
Time to do a little cleaning. I try and do something around the house everyday. Today was bathrooms...yay. And also I polished our wood floors because I was going to do that the day before, but didn't get to it.

3:08 PM
She's up! And check out that bed head!!!

After Ella's nap every day, I try and read her a seasonal book from my 2048382 classroom books I have. Today we read Thanks for Thanksgiving

3:20
Ella has a quick little snack...

...and then heads to our babysitter's house!

Every Tuesday and Thursday, I tutor a little boy at his house (my other tutoring clients come to me), so that is why I have to take Ella to our baby-sitter's.

5:13
Pick up my sweet girl and head home!

We play for a little bit (see why I haven't cleaned up that mess from earlier yet?!)...

...and then we FaceTime with my parents. Ella and I call them just about every night so they can see her since they live 4 hours away. Don't you just love technology?!

Also, my child is blurry because she was trying to hug the phone. True story.

6:38 PM
Dinner for Ella! And if you've been wondering, yes, I still take Ella's clothes off every meal. She is just so messy and now she has started ripping off her bibs! So I don't even bother with the bibs anymore, and just let her eat in her diaper!
Usually, Ella will eat whatever we are having or leftovers, but since I hadn't made dinner for Trav and I yet, Ella is having scrambled eggs....her favorite!!!

7:00
Bath time! She loves to sit on her potty while I am drawing the bath water!

Just look at that little lamb! (And yes, she's still rocking the infant-size towels...I just can't let go! Ha!)

7:13 PM
Story time! Ella has so many books, but she always manages to pick out the same 3 every. single. night.

7:20 PM
Trav is home! Ella abandons her books for flips from Daddy!

7:30 PM
Now that she's all riled up...bed time! Look how mad she is...poor girl.

7:54 PM
I make dinner for Trav and I. Tonight I made Asian JalapeƱo Chicken.

I've made it before, but it is soooo good!

8:49 PM
Trav's watching a Thursday night football game that I have absolutely ZERO interest in, so after catching up on each other's day, I start my Five on Friday post for tomorrow!

9:15 PM
Ahhhhh, the night shower. I am all about a good night shower. It's my favorite thing ever!
(Also- I am taking showers in Ella's bathroom because our bathroom just got painted and since I take super hot showers, I am afraid of the paint peeling!)

9:38 PM
Someone is still watching the boring football game downstairs, so I decide to watch some trashy television upstairs (Kardashians...don't judge me)!

11:27 PM
Eventually, Trav comes upstairs and we hang out a little bit more before I check on Ella one last time and we go to sleep!

Whew! So that's what our days look like now with a toddler!!
If you want to compare, here's a look at part I and part II of our day in the life posts!

Five on Friday!

Let's be real...I think for the next 3 weeks, the only blog posts I am going to have time for are 5 on Fridays!

1. And also being real...every 5 on Friday for the next 3 weeks will be probably include a countdown till the end of the year!!! We are at 13 days till summer after today!!!!!!!!

I also want to share something more positive (can you believe it?!?!?) about my job. Yesterday was my sweet autistic boy's birthday. He is non-verbal, and while he is such a sweetheart, most of the kids have trouble forming friendships with him because he does not talk. But one of my smartest little boys has really befriended him, and is always willing to help him out. If I could have a whole class full of these two, I would. Such sweet boys, I can't even stand it. Well, yesterday, the smart boy brought in a birthday card for the autistic boy and I about cried my eyes out.

"You are my best friend. Have a wonderful birthday!"
Bless

I hope Ella turns out like this kid, because he is seriously a teacher's dream. I need to talk to his mom...she is doing something right!

2. Moving on, our "high quality" Ikea bed broke last weekend!!! Trav was sitting up when we heard something snap! And ohhh, the whole footboard was busted. Yay.
Some little carpenter wanted to help Daddy take it apart...

...but she wasn't so sure about getting a new bed at Ikea!

3. Also last weekend, we went to the Wells Fargo Golf Tournament!!

We had a great time, and I loved matching my girl in our Lilly for Target outfits!

We also set up a picnic lunch by the lake...I could have spent the whole day in that spot!

We only got a little sunburnt ;)
Now accepting sunscreen (baby and adult) recommendations!!

4. On Tuesday, I had a doctor's appointment (which, obviously warrants me a whole day off, no?!), so afterwards Ella and I met up with some friends at the strawberry patch!

Ella hated it at first...

...but that all changed once she picked up her first berry!!

We went to Wise Acres, where they do not use any pesticides or harsh chemicals...so I definitely felt better about the hordes of berries Ella ate right off the bush!!

We did pay for 3 actual pounds of berries (which are already gone!), but Ella got much more for free...sneaky, sneaky!

5. Also on Tuesday, we discovered: the Harris Teeter Car Cart.

Oh man, was it a good time. Not looking forward to the next time they are out of car carts and Ella has a meltdown...what have I started?!?!

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend!!!
We are headed to Trav's sister's graduation, then parking ourselves at the pool for the remainder of the weekend!!

Life with Ella {Valentines, Snow Days & 2 Hour Delays}

Ok, ok. I know I said I wan't going to do any more weekly updates. However, I haven't had very much school recently, so that gave me a lot more time with my favorite toddler! (We had a workday Friday the 13th, Presidents Day holiday last Monday, snow days Tuesday and Wednesday, and then 2 hour delays Thursday and Friday! I've taught 10 hours in the last 10 days, ha!)

So anyway...let's back up to last Friday (the day before Valentines Day). Since we had an optional work day, I opted out of that and took Ella to on a Valentines play date instead! Everyone was wearing their pink and red and looked so cute!!

Unfortunately, Ella missed the memo that Valentine's Day is supposed to be all about giving hugs and being nice to your friends. She thought it meant pull hair and bother anyone who was driving the cozy coupe! Here she is pushing poor Emmy out of the way...

Yikes, Ella! We need to work on the whole "gentle" thing!!

As if that weren't enough excitement for one day, then we went and opened Ella's very own bank account! She got so much money for her birthday, I was scared to put it in my account and "accidentally" spend it. So now it is safe in her own account!

Also: deposit slips are apparently delicious.

The next day was Valentine's Day!

Of course we had to do a little photo shoot.

Travis also got me these beautiful roses :)

Ella spread the love by helping Daddy with his beer...

...to distract him while she was hijacking the remote!

She turned on picture in picture, and had on some crazy channels. She is nuts!

On Sunday, our friends Abbey and Brandon stopped by. Ella was especially interested in Brandon's keys.

Monday, we prepared for the gigantic snow/ice storm, by wearing our snowman bubble of course!

We also had to take my car in to get inspected. Luckily, we made it home before the roads got really bad!

Tuesday morning, we woke up to this:

I know it seems like a joke to my northern friends, but the roads really were a complete sheet of ice. Travis couldn't even go in to work!

Ella was NOT a fan of the snow/ice! Just like last year. At least she looks cute in my old snowsuit, right?!

On Wednesday, we had another snow day, but teachers had to go in for a workday. When I got home from school, I got Ella ready for the UNC vs Duke game (even though it started wayyyy past her bedtime)! She enjoyed shoving tons of Puffs in her mouth and looking out for any Duke fans.

On Thursday, we had a 2 hour delay because it was so cold. After school, I had to go to the library to get some books for my class. It might not have been story time, but Ella still had a good time! Her favorite part? Pulling books off the shelves.

Friday, we had another two hour delay. At this point, I was wondering why we even bothered going to school at all this week. After school, we played with bubbles and had a dance party!

Saturday, we went out to dinner with our friends! We went to Stone Mountain Grill in Ballantyne. None of us had been there before, but we had a coupon so we decided to try it out. Everything was delicious and really reasonably priced!

{romper / tab}

We sat on the heated patio, where they had a big fire blazing in the fireplace, so Ella snuggled (or not) with her boyfriend after dinner.

Today we just hung around the house. I ran a few errands and came home to find this:

How sweet, Ella and her daddy watching tv together! Until I looked at what they were watching...Nascar! UGH!!! What the heck. Apparently Ella was mesmerized by the cars zooming around.

Unfortunately all good things must come to an end, and I don't think we are going to have any snow days this week...or 2 hour delays at that (its supposed to be relatively warm)! So this upcoming week will be the first full 5 day week I've worked since 2013!!!! I am not excited about it. At all. Add to the mix that I'm getting observed, and my kids haven't had a full day of school since February 12...it's going to be a funnnn week!

Wine on Friday, anyone?! Or probably tomorrow night, and every night...who am I kidding! ;)
