30 Acts of Kindness

My 30th birthday was last Monday (thanks for all of the birthday wishes, ps!!), and I knew I wanted to spend the day doing something special. Everyone was going back to work after a long weekend, so I knew it would just be me and Ella. I stumbled upon this on Pinterest (of course) and was really inspired to try it out!

So here is how I spent my 30th birthday!

1. First things first, Ella and I went for a 6 mile run in the heat and waved/smiled at everyone we saw!

2. When I got home and showered, I had to call Starbucks because their app deleted all of my stars. I made an effort to be extra nice to the customer service rep on the phone, even if she sounded like she was having a bad day!

3. Then, I tried to comment on as many blogs as I could!

4. While I was on my computer, I sent out an email to the girls I work with at the Y offering to cover anyone's shift that week...and I picked up a shift Wednesday for someone who was needing a little time off!

5. Still on my computer...I tried to comment on people's Facebook and Instagram posts, instead of just "liking" the pictures! :)

6. Then we donated some old clothes to the Goodwill!

7. Next stop was Amelie's, where we held the door open for people...

8. ...and offered to let others go in front of us in line!

9. We also left an extra big tip for the sweet workers at Amelie's.

10. Why were we at Amelie's, you ask? Oh to surprise my preggo friend, Kathryn at work...she has been craving salted carmel brownies like nobody's business, so we had to bring her (and baby!) some!

11. After dropping off the brownies and cheering up Kathyn and her co-workers, we headed to Target where Ella helped me return these carts!

12. First stop in Target: The Dollar Spot, of course! We hid some $1 bills so people could buy a few things!

13. Next we went to Starbucks, where I let someone go in front of me, and then gave the remainder of my $10 gift card to the people behind me, so they could have a drink on me!

{not pictured: Ella spilling half of my Starbucks all over the floor. which I cleaned up, duh!}

14. Next, we put some coupons I had on top of the diapers...

15. ...as well as a $5 off home purchase coupon in the home section!

16. We also straightened up a messy end cap:

17. On my way out of Target, I offered my cart to another person.

18. Next stop was Harris Teeter, where we left a few diapers on the changing table in the bathroom. (and also offered my cart up again when we were leaving!)

19. The whole time I was in these stores, I tried to be extra nice and converse a little bit with the workers.

20. And then I had to come home to tutor! I know this doesn't sound like an act of kindness, but I usually NEVER work on my birthday! So it was an act of kindness because I was helping a sweet rising third grader!

21. Next we went out to dinner and left an extra big tip for our server at Cantina!

22. Throughout the day, I tried to give other people lots of complements

23. And I also tried to let drivers in as much as possible!

Ok, so I didn't get through all 30 of my acts of kindness on my actual birthday. I knew it was going to be a tall order, given that Ella took a 3 hour nap, and the air conditioning in my car was broken....so I had to finish the rest over the next couple days.

24. Left candy in our mailbox for our mailman!

25. Donated old running shoes to Run for Your Life.

26. Donated a whole bunch of shampoo/soaps/etc. to The Relatives, which is a shelter for kids. When we dropped off, one of the boys who was staying there came to the door and he loved Ella! I hope she brightened his day :)

27. Left coupon in Buy Buy Baby.

28. And left another coupon in Bed Bath and Beyond.

29. And while we were at it, Ella and I went back to Target and scattered more coupons throughout the store for people!

30. And last but not least, I gave away some formula to a mom who needed it!

So there you have it! It was definitely tough to come up with 30 random acts of kindness, and do them all in one day, but I'm glad I attempted and finished them! Not a bad way to spend my 30th birthday (and the days after)!
