Ella Grace {11 months}

Dear Ella,

How the heck are we only ONE MONTH away from your first birthday?!? I want to cry just thinking about it...but then I look at you and see how much fun you are, and I laugh instead.

Height: 28.5 inches (46 %ile)
Weight: 19 pounds (46 %ile)
Head circumference: 17.5 inches (46 %ile)
{Crazy that you are in the same percentile for all 3 of your measurement this month!}

Clothes: You are mostly in size 6-9 month and 9 month clothing, and some 6-12 month stuff as well (The Baby Gap clothes are starting to fit--hooray!). There are a few 3-6 and 6 month outfits that still fit you (and some 0-3 month cardigans/jackets at that!). If we roll up the sleeves, etc. you can wear some 12 month and even 18 month clothes (especially pants; apparently you have looong legs)! You are still wearing size 3 diapers.

Nicknames: Elle Belle, Peanut, Peanut Butter, Shim, Shim Shim, The Shim, Baby Shim, Shim of the Shims, Shim Shamah...OMG please don't think I am crazy for this whole Shim thing!!! I feel like I add a new version of it every month, ha!

Milestones: You said your first "official" word this month: Dada! And a few days later, you said Mama! You also say: nana (banana), nay nay, cook, clap, Ella, and you make a clicking sound with your tongue when you want food. You LOVE to talk and babble, just like your mama! You sit and "read" books, babbling as you turn the pages and it's probably one of my most favorite things ever. You also got FOUR teeth this month (all on top), bringing your total to 6 teeth! I really thought you'd be walking by Christmas, but here we are, over a week later and no walking from you. I am pretty surprised, but its ok! You can pull yourself up and stand with almost no support, but as soon as you know you are on your own, you fall down. Gotta work on that confidence, girl! You stand up and (holding on) will walk all around the coffee table, as well as all around the kitchen (with hands on the cabinets). You also love to push anything that moves--your walker, high chair, cozy coupe, etc.

{I'm also proud to report that although you kept ripping your sticker off during our photo shoot, you actually put it back on! You're learning! :)}

Sleep: Your sleep continues to be awesome! You are still taking 2 naps a day; from about 9:45-11:15 AM and then from 1-3 PM (sometimes even a little later). You go down for the night around 7/7:30 and sleep till 7 the next morning. You have been waking up from your naps and in the morning so happy and I love coming to get my smiley girl out of her crib!

Best Moment: Celebrating your first Christmas, not just the actual day but all of the activities leading up to it (yes, even taking you to see Santa)! It was SO fun to see Christmas through your eyes, even though you don't have a clue what's going on yet! I know it will only get more fun in the coming years!

Worst Moment: When you and I were both sick after Christmas. Just shoot me. I hope that never happens again because it. was. awful

Likes: Ummm, everything?! Let's see...crawling around and exploring, getting into everything, opening the kitchen cabinets (the ones that are "safe;" we've child-proofed with ones with dangerous things in them!), cars, trucks and planes (both toys and real), iPads/iPhones/laptops/remotes, watching football with Daddy, sitting in your new chair, shopping (and sitting in the shopping cart, waving to everyone in the store), pulling books of the shelf and "reading" them, babbling/talking, being held, snuggling.

Dislikes: Your bitty baby, the Nose Frida, sitting still, being put down when you just want to be held!

Health: You had quite a sick month, unfortunately. December 4, after we took you to see Santa, you ended up having a 104* fever! We took you to the doctor the next morning, where it was decided you had some sort of virus you were trying to fight off, and you were fine within 24 hours. Then, before Christmas you got another fever (101*-102*) and had some congestion. We treated you with Infant Motrin, and you felt better on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Then, the day after Christmas, Daddy and I both started feeling sick and your fever came back. We finally took you to the doctor a few days later, where we were told you had your first ear infection. Luckily, you really like taking the "pink stuff" (amoxicillin) and haven't had a fever since Monday! I really hope this is the end of the sicknesses for a while, because this was rough month for you!

Eating: You love to eat bananas, cheese, yogurt and applesauce. You also love anything with cheese in it, like grilled cheese or quesedillas. Sometimes I give you a bagel or bread with cream cheese on it, and you mostly just lick the cream cheese off and forget about the bagel. You like your dairy products! A new food this month has been those little oranges ("cuties"), which sometimes you like, but mostly just suck the juice out of them and then throw them on the floor. You are also still addicted to Puffs. You are getting the hang of drinking water from a sippy cup, but most of the time you throw it on the floor after a few sips. We are STILL nursing. I can't believe it...I know we are both SO over it, but we are almost there! You are nursing every 3-4 hours, but only last about 2-3 minutes per side before you start biting me...ouch!

Thank you for another fun month, sweet girl! I know we've both been a little sick, but hopefully that is behind us and we will be much healthier in 2015! I feel like your personality has come through even more this month and I just love love LOVE the little person you are becoming. You are feisty, funny, spunky and sweet--a perfect little combination! We love "talking" to you, and it is so much fun now that you somewhat understand some things we say! I hope you had a great first Christmas! And thanks again for giving Daddy the hint about getting me a Louis ;) You're my favorite daughter!!
