Life with Bennett {week 50}

I can't believe we are now in the FIFTIES in terms of weeks old, and that I only have 2 more weeks before someone's birthday! AHHHHH!!!

Friday:

We wrapped up Ella's week at our church's VBS by going to her little performance! Bennett was skeptical...

But Ella had a lot of fun at this VBS! I was really proud of her for making it all day (9 AM until 4 PM!) every day!! 

Saturday:

August 3 was my best girl's half birthday, so what better way to celebrate than with ice cream, right?!

Outside of the ice cream shop, there is the cutest little striped wall, so of course we had to take some pictures!

Sunday:

We went over to our friends' house to play, eat dinner and drink wine (parents, not children!). 

Bennett had fun with his girlfriend, Ellie!

And Lucas was obsessed with this cash register (don't worry, I've added it to his wishlist)! Please ignore the mismatched pants...he had an accident within 5 minutes of us being over there. Of course he did. 

Monday:

Library time!

We had found some special visitors at the library...my parents were in town checking on their house, so they met up with us!

This boy is just a hop, skip and jump away from pulling all of those books off the shelves. Not my favorite milestone, haha.

We also got his Halloween costume in the mail. He was not interested in wearing his Peter Pan hat for any length of time!

Tuesday:

Ella AND LUCAS (!!!!) got to go to Ella's preschool...actually, make that Lucas's preschool now...Vacation Bible School! Yes, two weeks in a row of VBS for Ella! 

Bennett got to be an only child for the first time in his life! After running a few errands with me, we went to his very first swimming lesson!!

Bennett has the same swim lesson teacher that Lucas did 2 years ago!! He loved splashing the water...I actually had to hold him away from the rest of the group because he kept splashing everybody!

After we picked the big kids up from VBS, we stopped at Target to get Lucas's school supplies! He was very excited, and I was very excited that they were much cheaper than all of Ella's were!

Wednesday:

Another day as an only child for this guy! Which meant, more errands (sorry buddy, trying to get all of the things for your birthday party!)

When we picked up Ella and Lucas, we had to take my car in for an oil change! Luckily the place is just down the street from our house, so we could walk home instead of wait there! 

Thursday:

Another swim lesson for this guy!

He got to be the model for back floating and the teacher was so impressed he didn't cry like most kids do on their backs!

Then, we went to Ella and Lucas's VBS performance. Oh man, what a treat. Lucas literally stood like this for an entire two songs. Statue child, LOL. Glad he is having fun. 

Of course, then he started running up and down the aisles, trying to come sit with me, sitting down on stage...good times, good times. I'm just thankful the preschool director said he can come back in a few weeks for regular preschool! In her words, "we just have to keep Lucas busy." Glad she already has him figured out!!! :) 

And that's a wrap on not only our week, but alllllll of the VBS programs Ella has attended this summer (3 total)! She's off to tennis camp this week and then only one week after that until...KINDERGARTEN! Eeeeeek!!!!

Life with Bennett {week 49}

Ahhh you guys! I totally forgot to post this and just realized today! Whoops!!!

Friday:

Two Fridays ago, we went to our favorite jumpy place with our friends!!

When we came home, guess who was inspired and started crawling with his belly off the floor?!

We had to make it official with his sticker on!

It is really hard to get a good "crawling" picture while also trying to get the sticker in the picture! 

Bennett also started saying "Dada" on command and when talking to Daddy, so we took a pic with that sticker, too! Hitting all the milestones on this day!

Saturday:

I had a random burst of motivation and decided to organize/clean out our pantry. Exciting times over here!

Our friends and neighbors were having an ice cream and lemonade stand, so we walked over there to support!

Sunday:

My favorite Sunday morning activity is checking out the weekly Target ad! Ha! I noticed that kids' shoes were Buy One, Get One 50% Off, so Ella and I headed up there to get her some shoes for Kindergarten! Now, I am pretty snobby about kids' clothes, but shoes? My kids are HORRIBLE on shoes. I have bought the expensive brands from Nordstrom and you know what? The Target brands hold up just as good if not better than the more expensive brands, so for school shoes, we always go get them at Target....because they will be destroyed quickly anyway!!

We ended up with these, these, these and these boots! So she should be all set now!! 

Because I hadn't spent enough money on Ella's wardrobe that day, we also went over to my Shrimp and Grits Kids girl's house to look at the latest trunk! We didn't buy anything there, but I have since bought Ella a cute apple dress, with a matching dress for her American Girl doll!

Monday:

Ella started VBS at our church!

Our church's VBS was allllll week from 9 AM until 4:30 PM!!! Yes, like longer than a school day!! Ella did really well, but man was she exhausted every day when she came home!

While big sis was at VBS, the boys and I headed to Hobby Lobby to get some stuff for Bennett's birthday party!

Lucas was most excited to see the Christmas trees there. It was July 29, Hobby Lobby. Calm down. 

We found a few things, whoops! Ha!

Tuesday:

Look who decided to start climbing up the stairs! Ahhhhh.

Wednesday:

This was the day that everyone was encouraged to do an act of kindness for my friend April and her sweet daughter, Charlotte! 

We decided to start by spreading a little joy at Home Goods, and offering to let that pregnant lady go in front of us in line!

Next we went to Joann's where we straightened up some shelves!

We also left some happy notes in the library books we were returning...

...and left some snacks for our mail carrier!

The reason we were at Home Goods? To get some decor for my new hallway table! I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! 

Table is from Amazon, but everything on it is from Hobby Lobby or Home Goods!

Thursday:

I didn't have my act together enough to do this the day before, but on Thursday we got out the door early enough to stop at the bakery to buy treats for Ella's VBS teachers! So one more act of kindness, just this one was a day late!

Someone figured out how to get into and mess up my newly organized pantry...

Time to put the locks back on!

Oh! And Ella made this awesome birdhouse at VBS! 

I'll try not to be so tardy with my next post!! It's so hard to remember everything when I don't post on time!!! :) 

Life with Bennett {48 weeks}

Another week, another very tardy update! Love me through it, guys!!!

Friday:

One of my most favorite things ever happened....SCHOOL SUPPLIES SHOPPING!

I was so so so excited to take Ella to Target to get supplies for kindergarten! And yes, we certainly did go on July 19 when she doesn't start school until August 26! I wanted to get there before everything got picked over! 

We even found Peppa Pig bandaids (yes bandaids were on her supply list)!

Saturday:

It was WAY past time for Lucas to get a haircut. Check out that mop on his head.

Our favorite haircut place closed, so we went somewhere new. Lucas wasn't sure about it but he loved the animal crackers they gave him! Plus he got a toy car as a "prize" at the end...so he was asking to go back to get his hair cut again that afternoon!

Ahhh, so much better!!

Sunday:

Bennett took a crazy long nap, so Trav stayed home with him while I took the big kids to the pool!

Lucas was all talk about going off the diving board. Till he got up there and was like, "Ummmm nope." He quickly turned around and got down immediately. 

When Bennett finally woke up from his nap, I took him to a nearby football field to take pictures for his birthday party invitations!!! I had a hard time picking just one picture!

{His party theme is football, if you hadn't guessed!}

Monday:

My kids had been begging me to take them to this new place called Jumpin Jax, so we finally went! As soon as we walked in, Blippi was playing on the TV and Lucas immediately never wanted to leave!

Although Bennett got off to a rough start...

...he eventually had a lot of fun! 

And of course Ella and Lucas were both obsessed with everything there! They had a total blast!

I hardly have any pictures of Lucas because he was so busy running around having fun!

On the way home, we stopped by my parents' house to see how the construction was coming along!

That night, Bennett wore his last size 2 diaper!!!

Tuesday:

We made a quick trip to the library!

And Ella had another Chinese lesson!!



Wednesday:

After my dentist appointment, we met our friends at the park!







Thursday:

Another pool day!





I am quickly becoming obsessed with taking these 3 to our neighborhood pool around noon...swim for a little bit, eat a picnic lunch at the pool, rinse off...I mean, swim some more and then home for naps! And everyone takes such good naps afterwards, too!
