Five on Friday!

1. So Chipotle has been giving out free burritos this past week and you better believe I got one!! Love Chipotle, especially when it is FREE!

Ella couldn't believe it either!

2. Just when we thought Ella couldn't get any more spoiled, she got another birthday present in the mail yesterday from our friends....it is a huge ride-on horse, that makes noises and everything!

It is hilarious. I love that she can sit on it, too!

3. Ever since my sketchy store at the mall (that sold 7 inch  bows for $2) went out of business, I have been searching for cheap bows for Ella. I finally found some yesterday here on Amazon! All 20 bows for less than $25! Score.

4. I gave up Target for Lent. I KNOW. I KNOWWWWWW.
I am a little Target obsessed, but my Target bill was getting ridiculously high each month, and my husband was getting more and more mad.

{Story of my life}

We will see how this goes. I might even have to go to.... Walmart. Ugh.

5. Five years ago today, we got engaged!!

Can't believe I've had that ring for 5 years already!

Hope you all have a great Valentines weekend with the ones you love!

Ella's Lilly Pulitzer Birthday Party

I know a Lilly Pulitzer themed birthday party in February is a little ridiculous...but didn't Lilly Pulitzer say, "It's always summer somewhere"?! In all honesty, if Baby Ferg had been a girl, I would have reserved this theme for her June birthday...but it is a boy, so Ella got her Lilly party in February!
Anyway...here's a look at our fun day!

You know I had to have my mimosa bar again! This year, I included regular and alcohol-free champagne!

{I used cut-up shopping bags from the Lilly store to put behind each picture of Ella. Thanks Adelyn for the idea!!}

{I stole this idea off Pinterest...if you cut celery and stamp it in paint, it will look like a rose! I thought it matched the First Impression pattern I used throughout the party perfectly!}

{Party favors}

{I was slightly obsessed with Ella's cake! I got it at Public for less than $30! I couldn't believe the price!!! And it was realllllllly delicious, too!}

{I created this 2 with all pictures of Ella in Lilly outfits! The sad part is there were way more pictures that I didn't have room to fit!}

Ella had a great time! Although, I think she was a little overwhelmed by all of the people there, and all of her friends playing with her toys...

She did love everyone singing "Happy Birthday" to her, and blowing out that candle! She did so well!

And of course she loved the cupcake!

After the party, and a nap, we opened presents! Ella got so many great things...clothes, legos, Prince Wednesday (!!!! She was so excited to see him in that bag!!!) and lots of art stuff (which is so great because she doesn't have that much and girlfriend looooooves to color/draw/create)! Her personal favorite right now though is this cat piano. It is slightly terrifying and absolutely hilarious.

Ella Grace {2 years}

Dear Ella,

You're TWO today, sweet girl!! I can't believe 2 years have already flown by just like that!

We don't go to the doctor until next month (we got a little behind at your 18 month visit), but I tried measuring you myself and you are around 29/29.5 pounds and about 35 inches tall. You are solidly in 2T clothes and can even fit in some 3T stuff! You just moved up to size 5 diapers because I haven't been brave enough to try potty training just yet. Maybe in a few months?

Your biggest changes in the past few months were moving to a new house and new bedroom, and then getting a big girl bed! The bed transition has been a little bit difficult for you. At first, you thought Mommy and Daddy abandoned you, and you would scream for us all hours of the night. You are doing much better now, though, since we have 3 nightlights and a picture of us in there for you! You know we would never leave you, sweet girl! You do wake up in the middle of the night sometimes looking for us, and then you get up around 6AM wanting to "snuggle Mommy Daddy." We are trying to get you to sleep in till 7 or 7:30, like you used to! You are still a rockstar napper, and will nap about 2 hours every afternoon, sometimes even longer!

Your favorite "toy" (besides books) is the iPad and iPhone. During the move, we let you watch a lot on the PBS Kids app and now you are obsessed with it. I let you watch a show while I shower, and sometimes when I am making dinner if you've had a good day. You love to watch Seseme Street and Daniel Tiger...but through this app (which you know how to navigate better than Daddy or I do) you love to watch Curious George, Super Why, "Thomas Choo Choo" (Thomas the Train), Sid the Science Kid (you call him "Anakin"?!!?), and Chuck Vanderchuck. So random! But you love these guys. You also love to watch videos of yourself and your friends on the photo stream.

From watching all of these shows (and having a mother who doesn't shut up), you have developed quite a vocabulary! Your verbal skills really do impress me, and anyone who talks with you. You speak in sentences now, and repeat back pretty much anything anyone says to you. My favorite things you say are: "I'm making a _____ (rainbow, tower, giraffe, mess...)," "I want a _____ (phone, book, toy, whatever you see in the store)," "Mommy right here (when you're in your big girl bed)," and "Where are yoouuuu?! (to anything that goes away faster than you'd like)."

You also have SUCH a good memory. Back in December, you went with Shep and his mommy to Target. Every time we go to Target now, you say "Shep mommy," and ask for Cheddar Bunnies, because that is what she gave you that day! Also, when we go to our neighborhood playground, you point to the swing and say "Auntie swing," because that is where Auntie Kaffy was swinging one day when we were trying to induce her labor!

You still love singing. Your favorite songs are Twinkle Twinkle, Baa Baa Black Sheep, Itsy Bitsy Spider, the Jump Up and Down song from the Y, and the Daniel Tiger theme song. Oh! And Wheels on the Bus. You know what all of the people/things on the bus do/say. You also LOVE Taylor Swift and whenever her music comes on, you recognize it immediately and go "TAYYYY-WER!"
We are working on ABCs, counting, colors and shapes. You know most of your ABCs, but still skip a few letters. I've heard you count as high as 12, but when it comes to counting actual objects, you get up to about 3 before losing track. But you can always tell me if there's more than one of something...you'll say "Oh! TWO doggies (or whatever it is)!" You do the funniest thing with colors: you associate them with Sesame Street characters! For example, you call red "Elmo," blue is "Cookie Monster."

Our spunky little girl, we love you so much! Each day gets better and better with you...and more fun!! You never cease to amaze us with what you've learned...you are one smart cookie! Happy Second Birthday Shim!

The Circus Was in Town...

Did anyone else have a completely crazy weekend?! I feel like we did. not. stop. the whole 3 days.

Anyways!
Friday we wished my dad a happy birthday...

...and spent some time outside since it was finally warming up!

That night, Trav and I were sitting down watching "Making a Murderer" {side note: omg, we are hooked you guys!!! We've gotten through episode 5 this weekend...I still totally think he's guilty. And I'm getting sick of his nephew and his mom's constant "yeah"s on the phone; does that annoy anyone else but me?!}, when I realized my anniversary band was missing! I immediately started freaking out (naturally) and we searched everywhere. Trash, sink/garbage disposal, my car...I even went back to Viva Chicken where I had picked up dinner to see if it was in the parking lot. We finally gave up after an hour and I started praying like crazy to St. Anthony (I googled "lost anniversary band" and everyone said he is the saint of lost things and it might help, ha!).

Saturday, we took a break from the anniversary band search to take Ella to the circus. I know the animals are not treated well; I tried not to think about it...and I guess this year is the last year they are using the elephants anyway. So that's good!

Ella's mouth literally fell open when the tigers came out. I think she was looking for Daniel!?

All in all, a fun time!

After the circus, I was putting Ella down for a nap when I noticed a sparkly circle on the floor in her room....IT WAS MY RING!!!!! I started freaking out and screaming...Travis (who was checking my car for 18th time) came running in panicked, thinking I had fallen down the stairs or something! Thank GOD (and Saint Anthony!) we found it! I always take my rings off when I give Ella a bath...I must not have put all 3 of them on after her bath Friday night!

Yesterday, we read the newspaper (specifically, the ads)...

...and did a little birthday party prep!
Any idea of how to get these pictures to form a much better looking 2 than I have here?!?!

Also...the ice cream truck drove down our street. In January. Playing Jingle Bells. Ella about lost her mind and spent the next 20 minutes looking for the ice cream truck.

Only 2 more days with my one year old...look for an excessively Ella-obsessed post Wednesday!!

Five on Friday

1. Pregnant friends craving sushi!!! I found a recipe for us!!

I made these on Tuesday and omg, YUM. Almost like real sushi. My mouth is watering now just thinking about them! The only thing I changed was instead of putting them in a measuring cup and making a nice little tower, we just threw all of our ingredients in a bowl. It was like Chipotle for "sushi"...amazing.

2. My friend Anni had a Shrimp and Grits Kids trunk show last night and I am SO excited about Ella and Baby Ferg's outfits I got!

The monograms will have to wait, since baby boy is still nameless. But I am so excited for them to match at the beach AND for those warmer UNC football games!
{Also, if any one is looking for a birthday present for Ella, I also loved this, this and this!}

3. We went to look at preschools this week!

I can't believe my little baby is old enough to go to school in the fall! But we really loved one (and Ella seemed to like it too)! I'm just trying to decide if it's really worth it to send a two year old to preschool?! I don't want her to be burnt out on education by age 5. ;) Let me know if you have any input one way or the other!

4. I saw this quote pop up on my Instagram the other day, and it was one of my favorites when I was teaching.

I'm trying to remind myself of this daily as Ella is starting to enter "terrible twos" territory and is testing my patience daily hourly!

5. Big shoutout to my dad; it is his birthday today!!!

And happy birthday to Dana tomorrow....

{side note: umm Dana, we need to see each other! This was the most recent pic of us together! And it's over a year old!}

...and Trav's dad on Monday!!!

All of these birthdays means someone else's is coming up on Wednesday!!! Eeek! I am little more excited about it this year, knowing I don't have to go back to work the next day!

Have a great weekend!!!
