5 on Friday {Our 5th Anniversary!}

Happy Friday!
It's also our FIFTH wedding anniversary today!!!

I thought I'd do 5 fun facts about our wedding/marriage for this week's 5 on Friday!

1. We have celebrated 5 anniversaries together, and I have been pregnant or nursing for every single one, except for 2015! (Nope, not pregnant this year! Just still nursing Lucas...)

{2013: 6 weeks pregnant with Ella; 2014: Had 4 month old Ella at home; 2015: FREEDOM! 2016: Lucas was 4 weeks old!}

2. The only show Trav and I really watch together is Big Brother. I think we are pretty much the only people left in America who still watch this show, but we are sucked in every summer without fail. Trav tends to like more crime-type shows (that give me nightmares), while I like more reality type stuff (hello, Bravo tv), so that's why we don't watch a lot of tv together! We will watch an occasional sporting event together, too...but if its a big UNC game, I will not be anywhere near him! (i.e. National Championship for basketball this year, I watched it upstairs while he was downstairs hollering and freaking out, lol).

3. I was looking back at my wedding folder in my old email, and I thought you would get a kick out of what songs we had on our "Do not play" and "Must play" lists!

Here is Trav doing the Souja Boy. I can't...

4. Yesterday I was cleaning out the closet in our bonus room and found this gem:

Yes that would be my list of things I was looking for in a guy! Ha!
Oh and there's also a back side to the paper...

Pretty sure I made this late high school or early college. I was such a dork!
But, I'm proud to say Trav fits most of my requirements. 😉

5.  Every year for our anniversary, we go to Bentley's on 27, which is where we had our wedding reception. I'm already sitting here, looking at the menu, deciding what I want to eat! I also always wear my wedding shoes.

Two kids later, they are realllllly tight and a little uncomfortable, but its only for a few hours, right?! Hopefully they never go out of style (although they are probably out of style already now...oh well)!

Have a great weekend, and Happy Father's Day on Sunday to all the dads out there!!

Our Third Anniversary!

Hey everyone! Your eyes are not deceiving you...I switched the blog name (don't really eat that many cupcakes anymore! ;)) and redecorated a bit! Hope you like!!

Hard to believe it's been 3 years since all of this...

We celebrated our anniversary a little early this year by going out to dinner this past Saturday!

Wearing my wedding shoes, of course!
Ella stayed with her nanny, but we took a quick pic before we left.

We ate at Bentley's on 27...where we had our wedding reception, and where we have eaten for our anniversary the past 2 years.
{2013} {2014}

Ignore my reflection....but the view is gorge!

They actually had a wedding going on that day, so we had a very early dinner (5:30). But we left totally stuffed and didn't need to eat anything for the rest of the night!

Calamari for starters...

...and I got a filet mignon...

...while Trav got the NY strip!

For dessert, they brought us a complementary creme brûlée! We didn't think we could eat anymore, but we managed to polish that little bowl off no problem.

So glad we got a nice dinner out, and always love spending time with this guy!!

Here's to the next 30+ years!!! Love you Trav :)

Our Second Anniversary

Yesterday was our second wedding anniversary!

It's hard to believe its been 730 days since all of this!!

{If you want to see our first anniversary recap click here}

Last year, I was about 7 weeks pregnant and on the verge of some very epic morning sickness, so this year, I was excited to 1. not be nauseous for days on end, and 2. DRINK!

Our anniversary celebration began when Travis came home from the store on Father's Day (yes, his day!!) and surprised me with these pretty roses!

Yesterday, on our actual anniversary, we went out to dinner at Bentley's on 27, where we had our wedding reception!

Of course, I had to wear my wedding shoes!

Before we headed out, Ella and Daddy had to have a little chit-chat about behaving for Auntie Kaffy...I don't think she listened very well.

After dropping a not-very-happy Ella off with Kathryn (who I seriously owe my life to at this point), we headed uptown!

We all know how Travis is with his sporting events, so we pushed back our dinner reservation and stopped at Carolina Ale House to watch the end of the USA World Cup game. The place was packed!

Meanwhile, my poor, poor child was screaming her head off at Kathryn's. Thank goodness she eventually calmed down (after an hour!) but at this point I was seriously considering calling it a night and heading home to rescue Kathryn! I'm just so glad she finally calmed down and I felt so bad for Kathryn!!!

Anyways, around 8:00, we headed up 27 floors to our favorite restaurant, Bentley's! If you have never been there, I highly recommend it. Yes, it is expensive, but it is SOO worth it! They wait staff is so welcoming and accommodating (the owner even came by our table...he remembered us/our wedding, and chatted with us for a little bit) and I have yet to taste anything not amazing and high quality there!

This was the view from our table:

{Note the wine glasses...I could drink this year! *YAY!*}

For an appetizer, we got some calamari (our fav!)

For our meal, we actually ordered the same thing (hi, old married couple!), which was a delicious NY strip, with pomme frites (aka French fries) and creamed spinach. I do not like creamed spinach, and probably wouldn't normally touch it with a 10 foot pole, but this was outstanding! And I was so excited to have a juicy steak this year! (Last year, I was afraid bc I would have had to get it well done...and you can't come to a place like this and get your steak well done, right?!)

For dessert, our waiter made bananas foster right at our table!

Best part: it was on the house! Their anniversary treat to us! :)

{Sorry not the best pics, I had to make do with my iPhone!}

It was a great evening out with my favorite husband and baby daddy!!

We had a great time and conversation (and surprisingly, didn't talk about Ella too much!), but of course we were glad to pick her up from Kathryn...and I know Kathryn was glad, too!! :)

Here's to many more years of wedded bliss!
{And hopefully our daughter behaving better for babysitters on future anniversaries!}

DIY First Dance Frame

Happy Thursday!
I'm linking up with Katie and Steph for Saw It, Pinned It, Did It to show you all how I made that picture frame thingy I shared yesterday

I actually found the directions from Katie herself here and pretty much copied everything exactly!

Here's what you will need:
{I got all of my supplies at Joann Fabrics}
-frame of your choice (I used an 11"x14" matted down to an 8"x10" opening)
-piece of burlap (I got 3/8 of a yard)
-hot glue gun
-lyrics to your song (I typed out 3 pages in courier new font, 10 pt)
-colored paper of choice (most examples I've seen used red, but I hate red and wanted to match our wedding colors, so I used-what else?-Carolina blue)

{Yes, I started this project on our guest bedroom bed...sorry for the strange background!}

First, measure your piece of burlap so it will fit in your frame.

Next, start punching out your lyrics! I started at the bottom of the page and then after I punched out a row, I'd cut the paper so the punch would reach to the next row (does that make any sense? if not, don't worry about it)!

After I picked out 15 of my favorites, I arranged them on the burlap, to make sure they were somewhat evenly spaced. I also punched out a blue heart and just wrote our names and wedding date on it. I've seen people type this part, too, but I was just lazy. Plus I think I have decent handwriting, so it would look ok.

Then, it's time to start gluing your hearts down! I folded each one in half and then put just a little glue along the crease.

{Please ignore my disgustingly dirty glue gun! It's gotten a lot of use!}

All you have left to do it put the frame together, and viola!!!

Super easy, it will take you less than an hour! And thanks for dealing with my crappy iPhone pics (when will I ever learn?!?!)!!

PS-Our first dance song was "It Did" by Brad Paisley, in case you were wondering. :)

Our First Anniversary!

We celebrated our first year of marriage this past weekend!

{I still can't believe this was a year ago! Time flies.}

Our real anniversary was Sunday, but we started early by going out to dinner on Friday night at the place where we had our wedding reception, Bentley's on 27

Of course I wore my pink wedding shoes....

Bentley's sat us at an amazing table where our backs were turned to the rest of the restaurant, and we got to look out on the most incredible view for our meal!

For our appetizer, we had some ahi tuna, calamari and bacon-wrapped mini fillets...

The calamari was sooooo good!
Remember, I don't like bacon, so Trav ended up eating the steaks for dinner the next night!

We both got different meals than we had at our wedding...I got jumbo shrimp with crab meat on top, YUM!

The wait staff surprised us by bringing out creme brulee for dessert!

It was a wonderful evening!

On our actual anniversary, Sunday, I wore this all day, because, when else am I going to wear it again?! Ha!

I also made this {with our first dance lyrics} that's been circulating Pinterest! I will provide a tutorial soon...it was super easy though! I figured it counted as a "paper" gift (paper is the traditional first anniversary gift) for both of us and we will hang it up in our bedroom soon!

{Sorry, I tried 4 times to get the picture to turn...don't know why it's not cooperating!}

And of course, we had to eat our 1 year top tier of wedding cake...yum? We used the same forks (that have our wedding date imprinted on them) that we ate our cake with at our wedding!

It actually wasn't too bad...a little freezer burnt and dry, but overall, not the worst thing I've ever tasted. Not sure if we will eat the rest of it at any point though, haha.

We also had some bubbles in our toasting glasses, that again, we used last year!

I'm guessing I should probably change the picture on that "Happy Everything" platter! It's so cute though...

Cheers to our first year of marriage and many more to come!!! :)
