Life with Lucas {week 6}

The good news: Lucas is starting to smile!
The bad news: I cannot get a good picture of it!

Below is the best I could do...and he was moving, so it's blurry! Anyone know how to sharpen an image even more than this?

I've already sharpened it as much as iPhoto will let me...but if there's a website or something I can sharpen it on even more, let me know! Ugh!

Anyways...Lucas thought the week before last was a little too boring, so he decided to spice it up for us this past week, to say the least.

Thursday was his one month checkup. He has grown TONS and weighs almost 10 pounds now! He's over a pound heavier than Ella was at this point.
They also checked his hemoglobin...and it came back really, really low. Like, the pediatrician almost didn't believe how low it was. So she sent us to the lab to get a re-draw just to make sure.

So, his hemoglobin was even lower when the lab ran it...which meant another blood transfusion for Lucas the next day.

{BIG shoutout to my in-laws for coming down to watch Ella last Friday!}

While they were with Ella, I went with Lucas to an outpatient facility (thank GOD we didn't have to get re-admitted to the hospital!) to get his transfusion. Funnily enough, the doctor who is now working with us out of this office was the doctor who got honored at Trav's work gala this past October, while I was 8 weeks pregnant with Lucas....little did I know then! But we know we are in good hands; I have been really impressed with her so far!

It took the nurses FOREVER to get his IV in, which is why he looks like a Christmas tree...they had to poke him a bunch of times, trying different veins. Poor guy.

He was a trooper though!

The worst part of it was that it was SO boring. Thankfully, we got our own private room (they called them "cabanas" HA!) and I could watch Real Housewives, but still...watching blood drip for 6 hours is not my idea of a fun Friday!
The nurses and doctor were really optimistic though and think this will probably be the last transfusion he needs!

Luckily, we had TWO birthday parties last weekend to lighten things up a little bit! First up was Jackson's fire truck party Saturday.

I think she hated that cake ;)

And then Gigi's farm birthday party on Saturday!

And yes, there was a petting zoo there!

This also happened to be Lucas's first birthday party! (He stayed home from Jackson's with Trav.)

Homegirl sure loves birthday cake!

Monday we had a playground playdate with some friends!

Tuesday was my 6 week postpartum check up. FUN TIMES. Also...why do they make the rooms at the ob's office so freaking small?! Don't they know people bring their kids sometimes?!

Since I got the green light to work out again, I hit the treadmill first thing Wednesday morning!

Both of my workout buddies were surprisingly well-behaved while I ran!
But oh man, those 3 miles were ROUGH!!! It has been a hot minute since I exercised and I am SO sore today!

We also started packing for the beach!!

Look out, North Myrtle...we're coming for ya!

Life with Lucas {week 5}

We are halfway to double digit weeks! Time, slow down!!

Last Thursday, I got the bright idea to recreate this picture that I had done when Ella was 4 months old.
Let me just say that 2 year old is very difficult to photograph and a newborn is also very difficult to photograph...so when you put them together it is basically impossible to get a good picture!
This was the best I could do:

Oh well. Happy Father's Day, Trav. I tried.

After that, I needed a little Target/Starbucks therapy.

Friday we went to ImaginOn for story time.

Lucas was--suprisingly--awake and into it!

They also had this really cool Mr. Potato Head exhibit. Ella loved playing with all of the different things, although I am not even going to think about how many germs were on all of the Mr. Potato Head pieces.

Lucas didn't get to make a Mr. Potato Head, but he really wanted to!

Saturday was Farm Day at the Nature Museum, so we went....and Ella just wanted to look at the turtles. Which, in case you weren't aware, are not farm animals and are always at the Nature Museum.

We finally managed to get her away from the turtles and she got to pet lots of different farm animals outside!

We also saw Mackenzie!

Sunday was Father's Day and Lucas's one month birthday, so we went to the Knights baseball game to celebrate.

I'd just like to point out that Ella is not appropriately dressed for this baseball game. I put her golf dress on for the U.S. Open, which was also that day. She does not have a baseball outfit. We will work on it. Please forgive me.
Lucas, however, did have on a baseball outfit (there was a baseball on his butt) and it also said "Daddy's MVP 01" on the front...perfect for Father's Day AND your 1 month birthday, if I do say so myself!

When we got home, Ella had some....bathroom issues, shall we say. Poor girl.
That fun continued into Monday morning, where she not only had it coming out of one end, but she also threw up too. UGHHHH.
Once she felt better, I, again, needed Target and Starbucks therapy.

Because of our little sickie, the rest of Monday was pretty boring, and I spent most of it taking Ella to the bathroom and keeping her away from Lucas.
We watched entirely too much tv and movies. The good news is that I think Lucas enjoyed Finding Nemo

Tuesday Ella seemed to be feeling better so we went to story time at Pottery Barn Kids. She got to help out with one of the stories!

...and Lucas slept.

We also hit up the Lilly store...

...and I tried on a bunch of things that didn't look good on me. Womp, womp.

Yesterday we spent some time outside while our yard guy tried to fix our sprinklers (our grass is almost 100% dead and our sprinkler system is all messed up, so yay for that).

We also went to Target...again, to get some popsicles for Ella. Bonus that they were Dory ones!

Oh and Lucas "helped" me vacuum!

I know some babies are terrified of the vacuum, but Ella loved it (and still does) and clearly Lucas does not mind it either! When can I start making them do the vacuuming?!

So there you have it...another exciting week of a sick toddler, lots of Starbucks and an excessive amount of trips to Target.
I'll try and make things more exciting for you next week! ;)

Our Fourth Anniversary!

This past Thursday, we celebrated FOUR years of marriage!

Looking back at old anniversary posts {see 2015, 2014, 2013}, we do pretty much the same thing every year, ha! But it's still fun to recap what we did that year!

As usual, Trav got me roses on our actual anniversary!

I got him a really perfect card (about how I accidentally spend too much money) and a bottle of wine. We don't normally do the "traditional" gifts...but this year was fruit/flowers. I guess we technically did that because, hello doesn't wine come from grapes?!?

Then, Friday night, we celebrated by going out to eat at Bentley's on 27 where we had our wedding reception!

It was Lucas's first time with a babysitter so we had to document. Ella was eating dinner, so she didn't get in the picture :)

Also not pictured: my pink wedding shoes that I wear every year!

The view from our table this year:

They had our favorite appetizer available again (they didn't have it last year)...ahi tuna, calamari and bacon wrapped filets! That ahi tuna was soooo good after 9 months of no sushi!

And I didn't even remember to take a picture of our entrees! I had seafood and Trav got a steak...I think. Haha, I had 2 glasses of wine, so I don't remember exactly what he had! #lowtolerance

For dessert, the owner of Bentley's came to our table and made bananas foster right in front of us!

We had a waiter make it at our table a few years ago, but never the actual owner himself! We felt pretty special ;) And the dessert was really good!

When we got home, 50% of our children were asleep....I bet you can guess who was still awake and wanting to snuggle!

Another year of marriage in the books! We've had a lot of ups and downs this past year (getting pregnant, moving, Lucas's hospital drama...) but there's no one I'd rather go through everything with than my amazing husband!
Bring it on, year 5!
